We are please to announce and extension to FireRack's MAC address tracking system.
The FireRack Management Server (FMS) has a MAC address tracking feature, mainly used on college networks. MAC address tracking is where the FMS polls all switches on the network, harvesting lists of MAC addresses currently active on those ports. That information is then written to the FMS database and made available through the FMS web interface.
Although the FireRack FMS has always supported MAC address tracking on 3Com switches, this feature has been absent when other switches were used. Today we can announce that we now support MAC address tracking on the following additional switches:
- Cisco Catalyst
- Allied Telesyn
- Dynamode
- Many others that conform with industry standards
